I am a Mother-Leader

31 days to mother like a leader.i am a mother leader best

Only 31 days?? I feel like we need to start running to cover as much as we can! BUT, before we get into it, I want you to find your soul’s quiet place and reflect for a moment.

Does this topic resonate with your heart? Or is it threatening? Do you think of yourself as a leader? A Mother-Leader? Or do you think of yourself as “just a Mom/Mum/Mama”?

Stay in that quiet place for a moment longer… just sit with the thought:

“I am a Mother-Leader.”

If you’re anything like me, you probably oscillate between days when you feel like a ragged, barely surviving Mother, to other days when you feel like the true Battalion Leader with everyone in straight lines doing the quick march behind you. 🙂 And THAT, dear friend, is the reality of this thing called Motherhood! But, regardless of how we are feeling, regardless of whether we are doing a great job or have plenty of room to improve, we need to understand that we are leading our children every single day.

So, to start the month, we’re going to define what a Leader/leadership is. Then the fun starts!

  • First we will take on the challenge of “self-leadership”
  • Next we’ll look at essential leadership skills we need to use as Mother-Leaders. (Actually, the truth is, you already use these leadership skills every day; we will just identify the skills and develop them further.)
  • And finally, if there are still any days left!, we’ll look at some strategies for managing our environment (aka home), from our new perspective as a Mother-Leader.

Throughout the month we’ll revisit the fact that being a Mother is amazing! It is a privilege;  it’s about selfless love and non-stop sibling bickering; it’s endless piles of washing and children that seem to grow up so fast;  it’s an incredibly demanding job; it’s a place of powerful influence; and it is probably the best role you will ever embrace.

In your quiet place, at the start of this post, what did you feel? Share in the comments below so that we can share this journey together.
